About Us
We are a family owned and operated business dedicated
to providing your horse with excellent full-service care and an enjoyable,
friendly environment for both horse and rider.
Walnut Cove Farm is a 23 acre facility located close
to Harrisonburg, VA in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley with easy access
to I-81, James Madison University, Bridgewater College, and Blue Ridge
Community College.
The stable, constructed in 2000, has a paved center isle
and includes eight 12x12 box stalls which are fully matted for the comfort
of your horse. Should you select full board, your horse will be stabled
inside during the hot summer months with a fan and turned out in one of
our fields during the night. Our large fields, one for mares and one for
geldings include fresh water, salt blocks, and run-in sheds. This arrangement
is “switched” for the winter months with your horse in at
night and out during the day. We accommodate our boarders with blanket
changes for their horses at no additional charge.
Our wash stall is conveniently located inside the stable
next to the tack room and is furnished with hot and cold water.
The heated tack room is equipped with saddle and bridle
racks, tack cleaning hooks, and hot and cold water. There is plenty of
room for your tack trunk.
We have a small loft which accommodates the storage of
your horse’s blankets and any additional tack trunks which our boarders
may need. All hay is stored in the bank barn at Walnut Cove Farm and brought
up to the “hay hut” as needed.
Our riding ring is located a short hack from the stable
and has dimensions of 100x200 feet crowned 12 inches in the center for
optimum drainage. The footing is pre-washed angulated limestone sand.
Our neighbors have been generous in offering us access
to their 200 acres for trail riding.
